Safe Routes to School
There is strong evidence that SRTS increases the number of students walking or biking to school. Establishing SRTS is a recommended strategy to increase physical activity among students. Active travel to school is associated with healthier body composition and cardio fitness levels. By improving walking and bicycling routes, SRTS projects may also increase physical activity levels for adults.
