Run for Trails

Run for Trails is in the process of becoming a 501(c)3 organization to promote the creation of trails in the Plentywood area for walking, running, and bicycling. The purpose of these trails is safe recreation while improving community health.

There are many different ways for Run for Trails to go about this venture. One process they are looking at is the Burlington Northern Santa Fe’s (BNSF) Rails to Trails Conservancy. The BNSF Rails to Trails Conservancy transforms unused rail corridors into vibrant public places ensuring a better future for America made possible by the connections trails inspire. Currently in Montana there are 19 trails, 225 miles, and 6 current projects. Creating trail infrastructure does take time. Run for Trails is hosting running/walking events to raise money to get this project started. Trails increase property values, create safer exercise options, and help develop a healthier community.
