Screen-Free Week is an annual, international celebration when families, schools, and communities swap digital entertainment for the joys of life beyond the screen. Instead of watching TV, surfing the web, or playing with apps and video games, they read, play, think, create, get active, and spend more time with family and friends.
On May 1-7, children, families—whole schools and communities—will rediscover the joys of life beyond the screen. Plan to unplug from digital entertainment and spend all that free time playing, daydreaming, creating, exploring and connecting with family and friends! One great way to unplug is reading books! Screen Free Week is also Children’s Book Week!
Screen-Free Week is partnered with Let’s Move! Missoula (LM!M). LM!M is a local initiative that is part of the national Let’s Move! campaign to combat the epidemic of childhood obesity. Nationally, the vision of Let’s Move! is to raise a healthier generation of kids. Locally, many community partners take part in LM!M. The mission of LM!M is to mobilize projects and partnerships that build healthy kids and residents of all ages – no matter where they live, work, play, or go to school. Projects focus on improving physical activity opportunities, nutrition, and access to healthy foods.
